I’m captivated by the dynamic social structures of Exmoor’s pony herds. Despite the potential for large gatherings, I observed a fascinating tendency among the ponies to form intimate mini-communities. Within these smaller herds, a charismatic individual, often a stalwart stallion, would take on the role of both leader and lone ranger. With keen senses and unwavering vigilance, he stood as the guardian of the group.
